Brian was extremely helpful throughout my professional soccer career with the Houston Dynamo. I suffered a knee injury and had to play through pain that the team doctor, as well as medical staff could not figure out the cause of. After a session with Brian, he not only discovered the reason for the pain but developed a program that alleviated the pain all together. He is a very knowledgeable PT that I trust and recommend to anyone wanting to work with the very best.

I highly recommend Brian Melancon, as an exceptional physical therapist who is incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, and caring. He works with his clients to help them understand their body’s biomechanics and how to improve their physical function.
What sets Brian apart is his genuine compassion for his patients. He takes the time to get to know you and listens carefully to your concerns and goals for therapy. He works with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses your specific needs and goals.
Brian is also an excellent communicator, explaining complex concepts in a way that is easy to understand and always taking the time to answer any questions and provide reassurance. Brian is always willing to work with you and your schedule and does what he can to be flexible, which I am so grateful for.
If you are looking for a physical therapist who will provide exceptional care, expertise, and compassion, I wholeheartedly recommend Brian.

I can say hands-down Brian is one of the best physical therapists that I have ever had, and I have had several. A lot of the physical therapists that I have had focused on the mechanics of movement. Stretching, balance, walking… when you are brain injured like myself and your motor pathways have been damaged or destroyed, you need more than just mechanics to help you learn how to move correctly. Past Physical therapists would just stand in front of me and side step. For example, they would say “here do this” as they would sidestep. That is all well and good if your brain knew how to move that way. Brian would break down the movement and explain things such as weight shifting and used bio feedback. He also used some great analogies to help me understand the reason why I wasn’t moving correctly. One example, which is probably my favorite is one day we were working on walking and balance. I was walking all lopsided and he would tell me to straighten up and then he put his hand on my shoulder, pulling it back so that I would not walk lopsided. I made the comment to him that I don’t know why I am so lopsided and his response was…” your bubble is off”. I was slightly confused and asked my bubble is off? what in the world does that mean?? He went on to explain… “ you know how a carpenter level that has a little bubble that tells you when somethings level. Your bubble is not in the middle. It’s a little off.”

Ohhhh I get it! Instantly I knew, and I was aware. It made so much sense. So not only was he physically assisting by me by having his hand on my shoulder correcting my balance and posture, he was helping me understand how my brain worked. That was just one example of the many instances of combining physical movement, with bio feedback sharing his knowledge of brain injury that help me significantly along the way. When you are not cognitively impaired, but your motor skills and motor planning, do not work, you get down. You feel like an idiot. I should know how to balance on one leg and weight shift. I should know how to walk in a straight line. I should know how to do all of these things!! He is really great at pep-talk’s. He would not let me talk Bad about myself. I had legitimate brain damage and I’ve got to stop being so hard on myself. My issues with movement was not because I wasn’t intelligent. It was just that some pathways needed to be rewired and that’s what we were working on to improve. He was consistently motivating and encouraging which helped push me forward. He held a bar high because he knew I would work up to it. He made me work hard and that’s what made me better and stronger. I can balance on one leg for 30 seconds, walk, straight line, side step easily, and do several floor exercises that I could not do before.
I made significant improvement the months I worked with Brian. Significant!!!
Brian is very observant and very knowledgeable about the muscle groups so he can determine the best course of action for therapy.
Brian knows his patients and that’s the best way to care for them!

Wow. Words can NOT express my appreciation, my satisfaction with Brian's work. I rock and roll with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, severe disabilities, vision impairments. Everyday of my life is a struggle but I sincerely look forward to his visits because I always, ALWAYS feel better afterwards...
We discuss mindset. These talks elevate my energy, improve my perspective on my own existence.
Critiques my yoga to ensure I'm addressing the weak areas properly.

The exercises he teaches are reinforced with tips of proper form over sheer amount. I carry this philosophy throughout my days!
When I'm unable to participate, Brian physically stretches my body himself, listening and accommodating my testimony of pain.
He recommends books that offer insight to my lifestyle and aspirations. Great books! I often share these recommendations with others!
His observation of my progress leads to true dialog and analysis of my life choices.
He speaks to my family so my wife and kids feel comfortable within his presence.
He actually ASKS for permission to remove his mask. This is HUGE as my illness increases my likelihood of catching COVID, colds, flu, etc.
I could write even more examples and reasons that illustrate his amazing efforts but I wouldn't know where to stop. I'll end with this. Brian is the single biggest influence of my professional, healthcare team. More than neurologists, gastroenterologists, ophthalmologists, pain specialists, medications. I value his advice and believe in his expertise.
